Frank was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis 5 years ago and to celebrate his 75th birthday, he decided to cycle the epic journey from Lands End to John o’ Groats, which took 19 days and over 960 miles to complete. Frank raised an incredible £1,240 for APF.

Frank tells us: “Cycling has definitely slowed the progression of the condition, but it will eventually take its toll.  I am fortunate that I have always been a relatively active person.  Cycling is one of the best medicines, so while I can, I will continue for as long as I am able.”

“I decided to do the trip as a ‘present’ to myself for reaching 75.  I did it for my 65th birthday and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. This trip was much tougher than I expected, the route was different to my previous trip and the weather was atrocious. Nevertheless, the cycling group were very nice and the two guides we had were terrific.”

“I am pleased I was able to raise funds for a cause that is not as well-known as the common big charities, but just as worthy.”
