Manjeet Jandu, a beacon of strength, kindness and resilience, passed away after an extraordinary life. Diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis over 20 years ago, she was dedicated to maintaining good health, committing to exercise and a wholesome diet allowing her to live a full and vibrant life.
Manjeet lived in Solihull and attended APF’s monthly Solihull Support Group along with her husband, Inderpal. Her warmth and compassion touched the lives of everyone she encountered. A beloved wife, devoted mother and a doting grandmother, Manjeet leaves an enduring legacy of love and care.

Manjeet approached life with humour, positivity and gratitude. Her family - husband, Inderpal along with her son Jaspal and daughter-on-law Mandeep, daughter Ravneet, son-in-law Gurvinder, daughter Navjot and son-in-law Sarvesh along with all of Manjeet’s beautiful grandchildren - speak of a brave woman who “made the disease her new norm”. She adopted a new way of life, adapting where necessary and, regardless of how difficult it could be at times, she put a positive spin on things and felt she had nothing to complain about.

She worked up until the later stage of the disease and in the last 4-5 years became more oxygen dependant, hardly travelling other than the occasional visit to hospital.
Manjeet’s family were incredibly special to her; partners and the grandchildren were always welcomed into the home. Manjeet loved being with them. They talk of “an aura about her, her far reaching influence that touched many lives”.
As active and committed member of the local support group, Manjeet was recognised by the group for her openness and warmth. She always approached newcomers, ensuring they felt welcome. One member described her as “a jewel in our crown”.
Alison Buckler, Support Group Leader says:
We were very lucky to have known her. Manjeet was a beautiful, inspirational lady who will be missed by us all
It is important to her family that Manjeet’s positive spirit, kindness and love continues to inspire them and all those who knew her. They miss her being a such a huge part of their lives and the constant hum of the oxygen machine. Inderpal still attends the support group as a volunteer.
A MuchLoved tribute page in memory of Manjeet was set up when she passed away, raising an incredible £4,600 for APF. Manjeet’s family were overwhelmed by the number of people who paid their respects during the two-day period of mourning.
The family are keen to educate the wider Sikh community and raise awareness about pulmonary fibrosis and the support available. Her children are keen to get involved in future fundraising for APF, also involving their local community. Recognising that language is often a barrier, they are happy to volunteer their time to translate to assist in building longer term relationships.
Manjeet’s legacy lives on as her family continue to raise funds and awareness of PF
We are trying to continue onwards as normally as possible without our mum. Her positivity will live on in us all as we are encouraged to be as healthy as possible, trying to live a better life and raising awareness within our community
