Go the Distance 2025

We would like to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated in Go the Distance this year. Your incredible energy, commitment, and generosity helped raise essential funds in support of Pulmonary Fibrosis Awareness Month - and we couldn’t be more grateful.

Whether you walked daily, ran through your local parks, cycled across scenic routes, motorcycled across country or even conquered the heights of Snowdon, each step you took made a real difference. Together, you've proven that every mile matters - thank you for going the distance with us.

"If I go today don't be sorry as I fulfilled my life yesterday.

Nothing can prepare you for your final journey it's the one we take alone, but the journey of life should be filled with love, laughter and joy all shared with those you know.

From being young I realised that if you were not careful you would miss the starting gun and before to long life has passed you bye, so grab it by the hand and take all that life has to offer." Mark Collins

“My Auntie Lorraine was diagnosed at 48 with pulmonary fibrosis, then my father started to develop a cough and knew not to ignore this as their father had died of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. My father, Allan, was then also diagnosed with the condition at age 53.

I am incredibly proud of my father and auntie they have both adjusted to a lot of changes in their life and both together supporting each other through it. Receiving a terminal illness diagnosis is a life-altering moment, accompanied by a whirlwind of emotions. They have both accepted coming to terms with this diagnosis and are focusing on the time they have and how to make it meaningful.” Kym Bell

“I was diagnosed with PF in 2019, and since then APF has been my “go-to” for information and support. I’m taking part in this year’s Go The Distance Challenge, my second time, to raise as much cash and awareness as I can. Where possible, I walk with family and friends -Together we are stronger! As my condition deteriorates, my distances may be less, but my determination is greater.” Mary Little

"My husband Pete was diagnosed with IPF in November 2021.  As a nurse, I was shocked to have never heard of Pulmonary Fibrosis and after searching the Internet I discovered APF. From that moment on, I made a promise to raise as much awareness and funds to enable better knowledge and vital research, leading to earlier diagnosis with better treatments and continued support for patients and their families.  This is my fourth year of fundraising and some of the ways I have achieved this is:- By raising awareness at health events locally, Bake sales, Sewing for donations and of course Go TheDistance.

Sadly, Pete lost his fight in April 2024, but in his memory, I will continue to fly the APF flag in his honour and hopefully Make a Difference." Sue Buzzle
